Continued reports linking Tottenham Hotspur and Premier League striker Harry Kane with a move to Bayern Munich are ‘nonsense’, the Bundesliga club’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic tells Sky Germany.
You might not find many Bayern supporters agreeing with Salihamidzic’s assessment that Kane may be something of a superfluous addition.
Yes, Eric-Maxim Choupo-Moting has had an outstanding campaign in Robert Lewandowski’s absence; more than deserving of his new contract at the Allianz Arena. But he is also 33. Going on 34.

And, while certainly a serviceable option against the Schalkes, the Augsburgs and the Hertha Berlins of the world, Choupo-Moting is not exactly the elite number nine capable of carrying Bayern to another Champions League crown.
Kane remains the dream Lewandowski replacement for many of a Bayern persuasion. And Salihamidzic’s rather brutal rebuttal of the Tottenham talisman may have some concerned that Choupo-Moting – purple patch or otherwise – will remain the club’s go-to centre-forward heading into 2023/24.
Bayern Munich rule out Harry Kane deal with Tottenham Hotspur
“Nothing at all. It’s nonsense,” the embattled-director said of those Kane rumours. “It’s not in our thoughts at all. First of all, we extended Choupo-Moting.
“I hope he continues in the same way, continues to score goals and then we’ll see.
“First of all, we are happy to have Choupo-Moting. I can’t say yet what will happen this summer (with regards to signing a new centre-forward).”
With Erling Haaland in such irrepressible form at Manchester City, Kane’s own outstanding statistics have gone somewhat under the radar. The England international has 18 in the top-flight. 20 in all competitions for a Spurs side stumbling along under Antonio Conte.
According to 90Min, Bayern Munich value Kane at around £45 million. He is, after all, the wrong side of 30. What’s more, Kane’s contract expires in the summer of 2023.
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy will demand at least double that, however. Even if selling Kane to Bayern would undoubtedly appeal more than losing their homegrown hero to a direct Premier League rival.
