Danny Batth has been linked with a switch away from Wolverhampton Wanderers in the summer transfer window, with The Mirror (Transfer Live blog, 13:31pm, Monday, July 2, 2018) claiming that West Bromwich Albion are considering a move for the 27-year-old central defender, who is reported to be rated at £4 million (click here to read more).

However, Batth’s comments about next season suggest that he is thinking only about Wolves, who will feature in the Premier League during the 2018-19 campaign after winning automatic promotion from the Championship.

Batth told The Express & Star: “We’ve got to be smart and ready for any knock on the chin we might take.

“We go into the division with a lot of confidence, with a system we believe in, a manager and squad that are strong and together. That gives us a great chance.”

Staying at Wolverhampton Wanderers?

Batth’s aforementioned comments clearly show that he is thinking only about Wolves and the Premier League next season.

While it is going to be hard for the 27-year-old central defender to play regularly for the Wanderers next season, leaving for West Brom in the summer transfer window will be a step down for him.

After all, the Baggies will play in the Championship next season after getting relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2017-18 campaign.

Batth should at least test himself in the Premier League and should give his all to be a key figure in Nuno’s team, which is why he seems to be inclined to do.
