Jack Wilshere has said on Sky Sports Premier League (1:47pm, November 7, 2021) that Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale is proving his detractors wrong.

The former Arsenal midfielder has said that fans and people in football were criticising the Gunners for signing Ramsdale in the summer transfer window.

The Englishman has said that he is happy for Ramsdale and has praised the character of the Arsenal goalkeeper.

What Jack Wilshere has said

Wilshere said about Ramsdale on Sky Sports Premier League (1:47pm, November 7, 2021): “He had a tough time. He got relegated twice, and I think that says a lot about his character.

“When Arsenal were signing him, the fans, people in football were battering him really, and to come here and perform the way he has, not just with his saves, but the way he plays out from the back, he has changed the whole dynamic of the Arsenal team.

“I am happy for him. He is a good guy.”

Aaron Ramsdale is a rising star

Ramsdale joined Arsenal for £24 million.

The 23-year-old was actually expected to be a back-up to Germany international goalkeeper Bernd Leno.

And indeed it was Leno who started the season as the first choice.

But then Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta decided to give Ramsdale the chance.

And he has taken it well.

Ramsdale is showing that he can rise up to the challenge of playing week in and week out for one of the biggest clubs in the world.

The former Bournemouth star is good on the ball, makes wonderful passes from the back, makes some brilliant saves, and is an assured presence between the posts.

Yes, Ramdale got relegated twice with Bournemouth and Sheffield United.

But, it was not the goalkeeper’s fault.

Look at how Ramdale is doing now playing in a better team with a stronger defence.
