Bas Dost was linked with Premier League pair Everton and West Bromwich Albion earlier this month, and proved exactly why he’s wanted in his latest outing.

According to a report from Portuguese outlet Correio da Manha, Everton and West Brom are both interested in signing Sporting Lisbon talisman Bas Dost. And based on how he rounded off a sensational term in Portugal on the final day of the season, it is not difficult to see why the interest is there.
The Dutchman went into the game with a staggering record of 31 goals in just 30 league games for Sporting. Nevertheless, he still managed to end the campaign with an even more impressive strike-rate.
The Netherlands international opened the scoring from the penalty spot after 11 minutes, and needed just four more minutes to double the home side’s lead against Chaves.
And he would complete the treble, once again from the spot, in stoppage-time at the end of the second-half to help Sporting end the campaign with a 4-1 win that saw them consolidate their position in third.

Although two of the goals came from the spot, the hat-trick ensured that the 27-year-old finished the season with more than double the number of league goals his closest rival across the entire division scored, with his tally of 34 goals leaving him 18 clear of anyone else.
While the latest treble will undoubtedly excite Everton and West Brom fans as they begin to think about potential summer targets, the Toffees and the Baggies will probably also be aware that almost every goal is probably sending his asking price soaring.
But if either Everton or West Brom are able to complete a deal for Dost and he subsequently manages to replicate something like his goalscoring tally from his year in Portugal, then it will undoubtedly be reflected upon as a sensational piece of business, however much is spent on him.
