Ipswich Town goalkeeper Bartosz Bialkowski is set to stay at the club and sign a new deal despite interest from Birmingham City in his services, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.
Birmingham have had two bids rejected by Ipswich for Bialkowski already this summer, as they look to bring in a new goalkeeper to St Andrew’s this summer.
Ipswich are determined to keep hold of Bialkowski. New Town boss Paul Hurst wants to keep his best players, as he prepares for his first season in charge at Portman Road.
Bialkowski signed a new deal to keep him at Portman Road until 2020 in January, but Ipswich have offered him improved terms as they look to fend off the growing interest in the former Southampton and Notts County shot-stopper.
Bialkowski, who was part of Poland’s World Cup squad in Russia this summer, has established himself as one of the best goalkeepers outside the Premier League in recent seasons and has won Ipswich’s Player of the Season award for the last three years running.
The 31-year-old has now agreed a new deal to extend his four-year stay at Ipswich after joining the club in the summer of 2014 from Notts County.
The news of Bialkowski’s new deal will come as a major blow to Birmingham, as they had made him their top target to be their new No.1 keeper for next season.
