Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney played as a centre-back for Scotland against the Netherlands at the Pittodrie Stadium on Thursday evening.

Tierney featured for Scotland in the friendly international match against the Netherlands at the Pittodrie Stadium on Thursday evening.
The 20-year-old is a left-back by trade, but on Thursday the youngster was deployed as a central defender.
Although the performance of Tierney against the Dutch was encouraging, former Celtic and Scotland international midfielder Robson does not see him as a central defender in the long run.

“I am not sure he will play at the very highest level as a centre-half,” Robson told Sky Sports Football on Thursday evening (9:45pm, November 9, 2017) about Tierney after the live coverage of the match between Scotland and the Netherlands. “I think he will be a left-back eventually. I think he can do it in there. He has played for Celtic.
“In the domestic league he can get away with it, but if he wants to go to the next highest level, he is going to be bigger, taller, at the top end of the tree, but I think he can become an excellent left-back.”

Tierney has done well as a centre-back whenever he has played in that position, but the Celtic star’s natural position is at left-back.
While it is great that the youngster is versatile, for him to develop and grow as a footballer, he should be played regularly as a left-back.
