Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Luke McGee has impressed on a loan spell with Peterborough United.

Barry Fry has told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire that Peterborough United are attempting to sign Luke McGee from Tottenham Hotspur on a permanent deal.

McGee has moved on loan to Peterborough until January from Tottenham, and he has made a major impact.

The Spurs youngster has immediately come into Posh’s first-team, and he has looked very secure.

Not only has McGee saved two penalties for Grant McCann’s side, but the 21-year-old has always looked commanding.

It is McGee’s first loan spell away from Spurs, but he has caught the eye at the ABAX Stadium so much that Posh are now trying to wrap up a permanent deal.

“Initially when we took him, my first talks to Daniel Levy’s people was ‘could we buy him?,” Posh director of football, Fry, said.

“Those talks are ongoing and that’s what we’d like to do. If we can’t buy him, hopefully we can loan him for the rest of the season.”

Tottenham already have the likes of Hugo Lloris, Michel Vorm and Pau Lopez competing for a spot in goal, meaning McGee faces tough competition to win a place at White Hart Lane, if he does opt against joining Peterborough permanently.

McGee has made 11 appearances for Posh so far, and he has managed to keep one clean sheet.
