Barry Ferguson wants Rangers to sign Liverpool loanee Ryan Kent again next season

Steven Gerrard will be building on his team again in the summer in order to help Rangers win the title.

Barry Ferguson has claimed that Liverpool winger Ryan Kent will be top of Rangers manager Steven Gerrard’s ‘wanted list’ this summer.

The 22-year-old is currently on a season-long loan at Ibrox and he has impressed his supporters with his direct performances in the attacking third this season.

It remains to be seen if he does make a return next term because if he does it will no doubt increase Gerrard’s chances of winning the Scottish Premiership title.

Speaking to PLZ Soccer’s official YouTube account (01/05/2019), former Gers player Ferguson offered his thoughts on Kent and why it is paramount that the Glasgow giants sign him up.

“I think it’s a key signing,” Ferguson told PLZ Soccer. “He will be at the top of Steven Gerrard’s wanted list. Obviously, Gerrard is going to have a good relationship with Liverpool, whether that’s back for another year on loan.

“When he went out on loan previously, he struggled. But, I have been really impressed with him. He can win games. Really like him as a player. He’s the right sort of character as well.

“So, I am hopeful Rangers can get him back. Whether it’s a loan or a permanent, I’m not really bothered, as long as he’s playing in a Rangers jersey next season.”

When Rangers have been at their best there is no doubt that Kent, along with main man Alfredo Morelos, have been producing the goods in the final third.

That was evident during their win against Celtic in December and their second-half performance against Neil Lennon’s side during their previous meeting.

Over the course of the season, Kent has played 23 Premiership matches for his side, scoring six goals and supplying his teammates with the same amount of assists [transfermarkt].

When he makes a return to Anfield this summer, he could potentially be returning to a club that has just won the Premier League title under the stewardship of Jurgen Klopp.
