Ross McCrorie hasn’t started a game for Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers in well over a month.

Ross McCrorie of Rangers disappointed during the UEFA Europa League match between SK Rapid Wien v Rangers at Weststadion on December 13, 2018 in Vienna, Austria.

Barry Ferguson has told The Record that Rangers boss Steven Gerrard should start Ross McCrorie in tomorrow’s Old Firm.

The Gers visit their bitter rivals Celtic in a big Scottish Premiership clash at Parkhead.

Defeat would see Rangers slip 13 points behind the league leaders and would almost certainly be the final coffin nail in their season.

McCrorie hasn’t started a game for the light Blues in any competition since February 16 – six weeks ago – after losing his place to Glen Kamara in Gerrard’s best XI.

But Rangers legend Ferguson believes that the Ibrox boss should recall the industrious 21-year-old midfielder for the trip across Glasgow.

He told The Record: “If I was picking the team, I’d go with the industry and energy of Ross McCrorie and combine that with Scott Arfield and Ryan Jack.

“That would be the three and then I’d have Daniel Candeias on the right to try and nullify Celtic’s threat on the left.”

Like so many games of football, Rangers’ best chance of victory might be in midfield. If Gerrard’s three can get the better of the likes of Scott Brown and Callum McGregor then that’s massive.

McCrorie is a tad more physical than Kamara and therefore Ferguson – a midfielder himself back in the day – might have a point.

Ross McCrorie of Rangers walks off after being sent off during the Scottish Cup Semi Final match between Rangers and Celtic at Hampden Park on April 15, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.
