Glasgow Rangers legend Barry Ferguson says that he would love to see John McGinn at Ibrox. Celtic reportedly wanted the Hibernian star in the summer transfer window.

Barry Ferguson has been quoted as saying by The Scottish Sun that he would love to see Rangers sign John McGinn from Hibernian.

The former Rangers midfielder seems to be a fan of McGinn, who has previously been linked with a move to the Gers’ Old Firm rivals Celtic.

According to a report in The Express in June 2017, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers was interested in signing the 23-year-old midfielder from Hibernian in the summer transfer window.

Rangers legend Ferguson wants McGinn to be at Ibrox, and the former Scotland international midfielder has admitted his disappointment that the Hibernian star has not been linked with the Gers.

The Scottish Sun quotes Ferguson as saying about McGinn: “I’m just disappointed that Rangers are not even showing an interest. I’d love to see him at Rangers.

“I’ve always liked him but especially the last three or four months. I think he’s come on leaps and bounds. I’ve watched his range of passing – that’s something he wasn’t great at.

“Obviously he’s worked at that on the training ground. I think he’s got everything a modern-day midfielder needs.”

McGinn is one of the best midfielders in the Scottish Premiership, and the Scotland international’s performance for Hibernian against Celtic last weekend was superb.

It is hard to see Hibernian entertain any bids for such an influential player in the January transfer window, although things could change next summer.

Rangers, though, may not be able to afford the high transfer fee that Hibs could ask for McGinn.
