Former Ibrox midfielder Barry Ferguson wants Borna Barisic to stay at Steven Gerrard’s Ibrox club Glagsow Rangers and comments on speculation that Liverpool winger Ryan Kent could be back for the Gers.
Borna Barisic of Rangers
Ferguson, who had two separate spells at Rangers, has also suggested that the return to Ibrox of Liverpool winger Ryan Kent is going to be a massive boost to the Gers.
Ryan Kent speculation
According to The Daily Record, Rangers want to sign Kent from Liverpool for the 2019-20 campaign, with the 22-year-old winger himself claimed to be keen on a move to the Gers.
The former England Under-20 international played well for the Gers in 2018-19, making 25 starts and two substitute appearances in the Scottish Premiership for Rangers, scoring six goals in the process, according to WhoScored.

Borna Barisic struggles
Barisic joined Rangers from NK Osijek in the summer of 2018 for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £2.2 million, but the 26-year-old left-back struggled to make a huge impact at the Gers this past season, making only 14 starts and two substitute appearances in the Scottish Premiership, according to WhoScored.
Barry Ferguson’s hopes
Ferguson wrote about Barisic in The Daily Record: “You couldn’t buy a Croatia international for £2m and the funny thing is he would cost a heck of a lot more if Rangers were trying to get him now. But I’d like to see him given another chance.”
The former Rangers star added: “He seemed to struggle as the season went on but he has obviously worked away in the background and produced when he’s got the chance with his country.
“He parachuted in to the squad during the qualifiers last year but this time around he will have a full pre-season to get up to speed along with the rest of the squad.”
Ferguson continued: “There’s still talk of Ryan Kent coming back and that would be a massive boost but if Barisic can continue his international form then Gerrard can at least score out a left-back from his shopping list.”
