Steven Davis has been in very fine form for Rangers recently as they now prepare for a Europa League encounter against Young Boys on Thursday night.
Barry Ferguson has gushed over Steven Davis and stated that he is ‘standing out’ for Steven Gerrard’s side, who are in a rich vein of form.
Midfielder Davis has been a regular for Gerrard this season and he started the Gers 5-0 thrashing of Aberdeen over the weekend before he was substituted in the second half.
It is understandable as to why Gerrard isn’t over-working the 34-year-old because he is a key player for them, but with European games also on the schedule, the squad has to be managed properly.
Speaking to PLZ Soccer, Ferguson, who will be well aware of what it takes to play in midfield for Rangers, stated that since Davis’ fitness levels have improved, he has been in top form for his club.
“Rangers are playing with a bit of confidence, there’s no doubt about that,” Ferguson told PLZ Soccer. “One guy, in particular, is standing out and that’s Steven Davis.
“Since he has got his fitness up to scratch, he’s had a full pre-season and he’s the guy that makes Rangers tick. And when he plays well, Rangers play well for me.”
The Gers have won five games on the bounce in all competitions since that Old Firm defeat and it has resulted in them closing the gap at the top of the Scottish Premiership table to one point.
Not only that, they will be hoping to make it two wins from two when they take on Young Boys in the Europa League on Thursday evening.
