Former Ibrox star Barry Ferguson has said on PLZ Soccer that Rangers will sign Ianis Hagi on a permanent contract.
However, the former Rangers midfielder does not think that Rangers will pay £5 million in transfer fees to make Hagi’s loan deal permanent in the summer transfer window.
According to Het Laatste Nieuws, the Gers have decided to exercise their option to sign the Romania international for €5 million (£4.48 million), with Romanian journalist, Emanuel Rosu, also stating on Twitter that the 21-year-old – who can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a winger – will be at Ibrox next season (click here to read more on Rangers News).
Former Rangers star Ferguson has given his take on the speculation, and while he believes that the youngster will be part of manager Steven Gerrard’s side next season, he does not think that the Gers will pay €5 million (£4.48 million) in transfer fees.
Ferguson said about Hagi on PLZ Soccer: “I do think he would be worth a gamble or a punt because he has got potential, at least he has shown glimpses.
“I will be honest with you, he has not shown that on a consistent basis, but I think £5 million, it’s just crazy money at this moment in time.”
Ferguson added: “I do think that Rangers will sign him, but I don’t think it will be anywhere near that kind of money.”

Hagi joined Rangers on loan from Belgian club Genk in the January transfer window until the end of the season.
According to WhoScored, the attacker made six starts and one substitute appearance in the Scottish Premiership for Rangers this season, scoring one goal in the process.
The Romania international also scored two goals and provided one assist in three Europa League matches, and played twice in the Scottish Cup for the Gers this campaign, according to WhoScored.
