Barry Ferguson has urged Rangers interim-chairman Douglas Park on PLZ Soccer to invest in the squad in order to stop Celtic from winning the Scottish Premiership title for the 10th season in a row.

The former Rangers star believes that the Gers need to sign good players in the summer transfer window in order to win the league title next season.

Celtic have been crowned the champions of Scotland this season after the Scottish Premiership was called off early due to the global health crisis.

Rangers have finished the season second in the table on a points-per-game basis.

Ferguson believes that the Gers need to invest in the squad in order to win the title next season and stop their bitter Old Firm rivals Celtic from winning it 10 times in a row, and he thinks that Park will give money to Gerrard to bring in new players.

Ferguson said on PLZ Soccer, as transcribed by The Scottish Sun: “It’s definitely a bonus with the new (Castore) kit deal, £25 million coming into the club.

“I think in terms of transfer fees for players, I think that will come down because of the way the world has gone.

“I think Douglas Park will invest, I don’t know exactly how much. I think he will invest in the manager and give him some funds to go and strengthen. I do think Rangers will need to strengthen.”

Celtic will be favourites next season

Celtic have the best and strongest team in Scotland, and the Hoops will start next season as favourites.

While a few new quality players will help Rangers, what manager Gerrard needs to do the most is make sure that his players are consistent throughout the campaign and do not struggle after the mid-season winter break.
