Rangers will be in the market to bring new signings to Ibrox in January.

Former Rangers captain Barry Ferguson has told PLZ Soccer that he thinks Rangers need three new signings in January; a striker and two midfielders.

The Gers brought in 15 signings following Steven Gerrard’s arrival as manager, and with just four defeats in 28 games under Gerrard, the recruitment has clearly paid off so far.

Rangers are still in something of a transition phase under Gerrard, and the club’s problems weren’t going to be completely solved in one transfer window.

Even after so many additions, it’s clear that Rangers still need more new faces to come in, and former captain Barry Ferguson has had his say on the situation.

Ferguson has told PLZ Soccer that he thinks Rangers need around three additions in January, with a striker certainly needed and two more midfielders.

“I still think Rangers are short. I’ve been honest about that a number of times,” said Ferguson. “I think they need another forward. You can’t keep relying on the guys that are there. It’s always good to have good competition.

“I think they are pretty lightweight up top and I still think they are short of one or two midfielders, and Steven Gerrard will know that. The manager knows that they need to go and strengthen. It’s whether they have got the money there,” he added.

Strikers have been linked, with Liverpool’s Dominic Solanke thought to be a target, as well as Southampton midfielder Steven Davis, but other rumours have been a little thin on the ground so far ahead of January, with a creative midfielder certainly needed.
