Glasgow Rangers defender James Tavernier is rated highly by former Ibrox midfielder Barry Ferguson.

The Rangers legend, who had two separate spells at Ibrox, has been impressed with the performances of Tavernier so far this season.
The former Newcastle United right-back has scored seven goals and provided eight assists in 32 Scottish Premiership appearances for the Gers, according to Transfermarkt.com.
Ferguson has also stated that Tavernier has improved in terms of his defensive abilities, but the former Scotland international midfielder believes that the 26-year-old can still improve in that department.

“There’s no better attacking right back in Scotland and he has improved his defensive qualities this season too,” Ferguson wrote about Tavernier in The Daily Record.
“There is still scope for him to get better in that area but he has been the best and most consistent Rangers performer in the current campaign.
“His assist stats are among the best in Scotland and he has chipped in with seven goals too, albeit a few of them have been penalties.”

Quality footballer
Tavernier has gone from strength to strength at Rangers since his move from Wigan Athletic in the summer of 2015 for a transfer fee reported by The Daily Mail to be worth £200,000.
Given that Tavernier is 26 years of age, the right-back can only improve in the coming years.
Rangers are not going to catch Old Firm rivals Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership table, but Graeme Murty’s side can certainly finish second.
