Barry Ferguson has told his Daily Record column that Rangers manager Michael Beale would be relieved if Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou was to leave Parkhead in the coming days – amid reports that a Premier League club are interested.
Postecoglou, 57, is being linked with a move to Leeds United. The Premier League side sacked American manager Jesse Marsch on Monday and have since been looking for a replacement. Postecoglou has regularly cropped up as a target.
The Guardian say Celtic’s Aussie gaffer is an option for Leeds. It comes with Carlos Corberan signing a new contract at West Brom. Rayo Vallecano’s Andoni Iraola has been blocked in joining Leeds. Feyenoord’s Arne Slot is the favourite.
It could be that Postecoglou is approached by Leeds in the coming days to take over at Elland Road. Ferguson, an Ibrox legend gave his take, saying he would drive Postecoglou to Yorkshire – and a move would relieve Rangers and Beale.

“I don’t know where Postecoglou’s house is. But if someone would be kind enough to pass me his home address, I’ll gladly nip over there this afternoon and offer him a lift down the road to Leeds United,” Ferguson told The Record.
“They might not be willing to admit it but there’s hardly a Rangers fan out there who wouldn’t be quietly relieved if the he was tempted away from Glasgow for a shot in England. And I’m pretty sure Michael Beale would feel the same way.”
Ferguson: Rangers manager Beale relieved if Postecoglou left Celtic
The chances of Postecoglou leaving Celtic right now, in what is only his second season at Parkhead and the Hoops on course for a domestic treble, seems very unlikely. He is on a rolling 12-month contract – expiring in the summer.
So, Leeds do have a chance of luring Postecoglou down south, to Yorkshire. But Postecoglou seems happy at Celtic. If Leeds had pursued a move for the Bhoys manager in the summer, they might find they stand more of a chance.
But Leeds need a manager now as they look to stave off the threat of relegation come the end of the season. A point away at Manchester United on Wednesday has given them a platform to build on. But, they need a manager soon.
