Graeme Murty’s Glasgow Rangers lost to Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic at Ibrox in the Old Firm derby last weekend.
Celtic got the better of Rangers 3-2 at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership last Sunday afternoon despite ending the game with 10 men.
Former Rangers midfielder Ferguson has claimed that Rodgers got lucky against Graeme Murty’s side.
Ferguson wrote in The Daily Record: “When he made the call to take off James Forrest and replace him with a striker, with his side down to 10 men and the game balanced at 2-2, it was incredibly brave and bold management.
“But what happened next was also incredibly lucky and he’s fortunate it all went his way because had Rangers won 3-2 it would have been him and not Murty who has spent the last week under fire.”
“They got another break early in the game when Goss was too inexperienced to realise he had to take one for the team when the ball broke to Tom Rogic seconds before the Australian curled home Celtic’s first goal,” added Ferguson. “Goss should have cleaned him out before he had a chance to line up his shot.
“Celtic got lucky again when David Bates had to be carried off right after the Rogic equaliser because the youngster has been Rangers best defender for some time now.”
Strange comments
In any football match, there is always an element of luck, and the Old Firm derby at Ibrox last weekend was no different.
Alfredo Morelos is one of the best strikers in the Scottish Premiership, but the Colombian striker failed to convert an easy chance late on, which did help the Hoops pick up maximum points from the encounter.
Rodgers’s tactics, though, cannot be faulted, especially as it was one of his substitutes, Odsonne Edouard, who scored the winner.
The fact is that Rangers failed to take their chances and make the most of their numerical superiority, and Celtic were the better team over the 90 minutes.

Meanwhile, former Celtic striker Chris Sutton has responded to Ferguson’s claim on social networking site Twitter.
