Barry Ferguson has said that Steve Clarke would be a great managerial appointment for Celtic, as quoted in The Scottish Sun.

The former Rangers star believes that Scotland boss Clarke would be brilliant for Celtic.

However, Ferguson has pointed out that the 57-year-old is not going to step down from his role as the Scotland national team head coach.

The Scottish Sun quotes Ferguson as saying: “I think Steve Clarke would be a great choice but he’s leading Scotland into the Euros, why would he want to give that up?”

Where are we with the Celtic manager hunt?

It did seem very likely that Eddie Howe would become the new manager of Celtic.

However, the Scottish Premiership giants released a statement on Friday saying that despite holding talks with the Englishman, he will not take charge of the team.

Sky Sports are now reporting that the Hoops are planing to hire Ange Postecoglou as their new manager.

Steve Clarke to Celtic?

Clarke is a very good manager who knows Scottish football inside out.

The 57-year-old did well during his time at Kilmarnock and has guided Scotland to the Euro 2020 finals.

Clarke’s contract as the Scotland manager is until the summer of 2022, and it is hard to see him leave his role after the Euro 2020 finals, especially if the team do well.
