The recent rumour about Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers signing Ryan Kent might be a false dawn.

It’s been on and off more times than Alfredo Morelos on a pitch last season but, as things stand, Rangers won’t be re-signing Ryan Kent.
The Record gave the Gers fresh hope of bringing the Liverpool winger back to Ibrox this week by reporting that he was set to ‘down tools’ in an effort to force some type of return to Steven Gerrard’s side.
But The Argus rubbished that suggestion on Wednesday and reiterated that the Reds’ stance on loaning him to Rangers is unchanged, adding that his behaviour is ‘exemplary’.
Liverpool reportedly want £7 million up front and it’s seemingly too steep for Gerrard, who improved the 22-year-old last season from a development point of view.
With less than two weeks left in the transfer window, Barry Ferguson feels that it’s time to move on from this ‘body blow’ and calls on other Rangers players to step up in the likely absence of Kent.
He told PLZ Soccer: “I think Kent’s a massive player. He’s got that bit of magic in the final third. He can carry the ball, he can score goals, he can go past three and four players.
“It will be a body blow but it’s up to the other players that the manager has brought in to go and produce on a Saturday.”
Is it a blow? Definitely. Rangers already look like they might be pushing Celtic very, very close this season, but add Kent into the mix and Gerrard’s side might be favourites.
Still, it’s probably time that Gerrard gives up and uses the remaining 12 days to focus on transfers that could materialise.
