Steven Davis of Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers has a fan in Barry Ferguson.

Writing in The Record, Barry Ferguson has praised Rangers midfielder Steven Davis.
The Southampton-owned ace impressed on his second Rangers debut in midweek, though Steven Gerrard’s side lost 2-1 at Kilmarnock [HITC].
Davis, earning £12,000-a-week since returning to Ibrox on a six-month loan [The Scottish Sun], might be 34, but there were no signs of decline in what was a silky display.
Ferguson played alongside the Northern Ireland international in Glasgow, and the 40-year-old couldn’t speak highly enough about his former team-mate.
He wrote in The Record: ” I certainly saw enough from Davis the other night to convince me he’s going to be the key man between now and the end of the season. He still oozes class.
“He just needs a bit of time and more minutes in his legs but having been over the course before he’ll also realise there is a job to be done this weekend and nothing less than victory will be tolerated.”
Davis joined around the same time as Jermain Defoe, but there is a feeling that the evergreen midfielder could have a bigger, longer impact at Rangers than the English striker.
Of course, they’re both only on loan for now, but the Blues could probably thrash out a permanent deal with Southampton for Davis come May.
He has undeniably lost a bit of pace as a result of the aging process, but speed has never been a huge part of his game and therefore losing some won’t be detrimental for his ability to influence football matches.
Rangers visit Livingston in the Scottish Premiership tomorrow.
