Rangers have snapped up one of the best talents in Scotland when they signed Jake Hastie.
Barry Ferguson has admitted that he fears Rangers-bound Jake Hastie might not get enough game time at Ibrox next season.
The Light Blues confirmed on their official website on Tuesday that the highly-rated winger will join the club in the summer from fellow Premiership side Motherwell.
Speaking to PLZ Soccer’s official YouTube account, Ferguson expressed what the one thing he doesn’t want Hastie to do when he moves to Ibrox next season.
“Rangers have a good young player,” Ferguson told PLZ Soccer. “Let’s not beat about the bush here. For me, since Christmas, he’s been great for Motherwell.
“It’s just a case of whether he’s going to go there and play, week in and week out. I would love him to there. I love seeing young kids going to play football. I just like to see young players blossom and play for two or three years.
“I hope he doesn’t go to Rangers and doesn’t play much. When a club like Rangers come calling I can see why he wanted to go.”
Only six months ago, Hastie was playing in the Scottish Championship with relegation-threatened Alloa and now he finds himself heading to Rangers.
There is no doubt that it has been a remarkable rise for the versatile attacker, who will be hoping to break into Steven Gerrard’s first team next season.
He will have his work cut out because there is a number of high-quality players deployed in his area of the pitch.
But if it creates competition then it will please Gerrard because he needs more quality in his squad in order to push his team over the line in regards to winning the title.
