Former Ibrox star Barry Ferguson has spoken highly of new Rangers signing Joe Aribo in The Daily Record.

Rangers have signed Aribo in the summer transfer window following the midfielder’s departure from Charlton Athletic in England at the end of last season.

The 22-year-old midfielder played a key role in the Addicks clinching promotion from League One to the Championship at the end of the 2018-19 campaign.

Former Rangers midfielder Ferguson has spoken highly of the ex- Staines Town midfielder.

Ferguson wrote in The Daily Record about Aribo: “I took a keen interest in how Charlton were doing last season because of Lee so I’ve seen a fair bit of the boy and he looks like the perfect fit for Rangers.

“He’s the kind of player they were crying out for last season – a guy who can add that wee bit of trickery in the final third.

“He’s a creative No.10 with an eye for the killer passes in and around the penalty box but he can also get up and down the pitch.”

Good signing for Rangers?

Rangers do need more dynamism and youthful vigour in their midfield, and Aribo provides just that.

The midfielder did well in League One in England, and the youngster has what it takes to be a success in the Scottish Premiership.

Title challenge

Rangers finished second in the Scottish Premiership table last season, and the Gers will be determined to push Celtic all the way in 2019-20.

Celtic remain the strongest team in Scotland, but with the signings that Rangers have made already this summer, the Gers will be confident.
