Armstrong has been a key player for Celtic this season, and it has not gone unnoticed by the former Glasgow Rangers man.
Barry Ferguson has told the Daily Record that Celtic midfielder Stuart Armstrong has been the best player in Scotland over the last month.
The Hoops continued their incredible form in the Scottish Premiership throughout December. Their 2-1 win over Rangers on Hogmanay extended their run of consecutive victories in the top flight to 15, and saw them open up a 19 point lead at the top of the table, with a game in hand over their nearest challengers.

Armstrong has been one of Brendan Rodgers’ key men during that run, which may have come as a surprise to many given that he was struggling to establish himself during Ronny Deila’s time in charge.
But Ferguson has suggested that Rodgers deserves plenty of credit for the 24-year-old’s dramatic upturn in form, before outlining just how impressed he has been with the midfielder in recent times.
“They have a manager who has worked in the best league in the world and he has massively improved some of the players already there. I look at the likes of James Forrest and Stuart Armstrong who were bit-part players under Ronny Deila,” he told the Record.

“I always admired Armstrong at Dundee United but felt he lost his way a bit when he first joined Celtic. That was probably down to the fact he was played out wide but he’s moved into a central role and has been the best player in Scotland in the past month.”
In December alone, Armstrong scored four times to help the Hoops preserve their sensational league run. What makes that all the more remarkable is that it has meant that in one month he equalled the return of goals he secured during the entirety of last season in the top flight.
And, of course, his stunning strike against Hamilton on Christmas Eve deserves to go down as one of the Bhoys’ best goals of the campaign.
