Rangers are in the midst of a mini crisis, with a series of poor results being compounded by off-field problems.

Former Rangers midfielder Barry Ferguson has offered Mark Warburton words of warning ahead of their game at Aberdeen on Sunday, when writing his column for the Daily Record.

The Gers boss has come under fire in recent weeks after draws against Kilmarnock and Ross County were sandwiched by their 5-1 hammering against fierce rivals Celtic in the Old Firm derby.

Rangers did, however, bounce back with a convincing 5-0 win on Tuesday against Queen of the South in the Scottish League Cup, but a huge test awaits them at the weekend, and Ferguson offered some advice to Warburton pertaining to the ill-feeling held towards the Glasgow giants in Aberdeen:

“Warburton and his players might think they’ve seen it all after finding themselves on the wrong end of a hiding at Celtic Park but they are about to discover that it’s not only the green half of Glasgow that’s got in for them. Trust me on this, you don’t know what hatred feels like until you walk out at Pittodrie with a Rangers crest on your chest.”

Ferguson went on to describe the level of animosity that will be levelled at the Rangers players at Pittodrie when writing for the Daily Record:

“In my days as a player, I was always taken aback by just how much animosity there was for us in Aberdeen. These people didn’t just dislike us. They despised us. The place was poisonous from the moment we stepped out of that tunnel for the pre-match warm up.”

Warburton must ensure that his side are prepared both mentally and physically for the challenge that awaits them on Sunday.

The Dons currently sit one place above the Gers in the Scottish Premiership league table, and a win for the Glasgow outfit would see them leapfrog their rivals.

The game kicks-off at 13:00 on Sunday afternoon.
