Carlos Pena scored for Glasgow Rangers in the Ibrox club’s match against Aberdeen.

Glasgow Rangers returned to winning ways after beating Aberdeen 3-0 on Wednesday. The result saw them closing the gap with Aberdeen to three points.
The Gers have largely under-performed this season and are currently without a permanent manager following the sacking of Pedro Caixinha. They are third in the Scottish Premier League table with seven points behind arch-rivals Celtic.

Former Rangers player Barry Ferguson was impressed with the Ibrox club’s latest performance. What pleased him the most was the desire and commitment shown by the players on the pitch.
James Tavernier scored twice while Carlos Pena added another to seal all three points for the home side.
Ferguson picked up Pena’s performance for praise, saying the Mexican showed good desire on the pitch. He added that if Pena continues to play with intensity and puts in strong efforts then he definitely would be applauded by the Rangers fans.

The former Rangers man said that there are bound to be bad days in a football season, but at a big club like Rangers one should not be mentally prepared to accept defeat.
“I swear to God, when I saw Carlos Pena chase 50 yards back into his own half I almost jumped up and tackled the sofa,” wrote Ferguson in his column for the Daily Record.
“Now I don’t know if Pena is a proper player or not but I do know if he puts in that kind of effort every time he steps onto a pitch then he’ll be appreciated by the Rangers support. That’s all they’ll ever demand of their players and I know that from personal experience because I had more than my share of bad games for the club.
“But never once did I step across that white line prepared to accept defeat. And that’s the mental approach which separates a real Rangers player from all the rest.”
