Pedro Caixinha’s Rangers will face Old Firm rivals Celtic at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership this weekend.
Barry Ferguson at Rangers
Barry Ferguson has revealed in The Daily Record what worries him about Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha.
Caixinha was appointed the Rangers manager in March following the departure of Mark Warburton, now at Nottingham Forest, in February.
The Portuguese have done a relatively good job at Ibrox so far and has been quite intense with his players.
The Express quoted Caixinha as saying last month that he plans to give the Rangers a break of 10 to 11 days during the summer.
Former Rangers star Ferguson has given his take on the situation in his column in The Daily Record and can highlighted one issue with Caixinha.
New Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha
“The one thing that worries me slightly – where a club like Rangers is concerned – is Pedro’s 24-7 approach,” Ferguson wrote in The Daily Record.
“I know what the pressure is like when you are wearing that shirt or representing the club in any way. I grew up in that environment and I learned that you have to carry it around with you every day.
“You can’t escape your responsibilities and they weigh heavily on your shoulders. So if you cannot find a way to switch off then eventually you will run the risk of burnout. It’s the same for players, coaches and managers.”
Rangers will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they take on Old Firm rivals Celtic at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership.
The Gers will head into the match on the back of a 2-0 defeat to the Bhoys at Hampden Park in Glasgow in the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup.
The Ibrox outfit are third in the league table at the moment with 58 points from 33 matches.
