Rangers are interested in securing the services of Kamberi from Scottish Premiership rivals Hibernian in the summer transfer window, according to The Scottish Sun.
It has been reported that the Gers want to bring the 25-year-old forward on a loan deal and are willing to let Greg Docherty go the other way.
However, according to the report, both Hibernian and Kamberi want a permanent transfer this summer.
Former Rangers midfielder Ferguson has given his take on speculation regarding the Swiss forward, and believes that he would be a good signing for the Gers.
Ferguson wrote in The Daily Record about Kamberi: “Hands up, when he signed on the last day of the January transfer window I was a bit surprised. I wasn’t sure he would add all that much to the group if I’m honest.
“But he did enough over a short space of time to make me change my mind. Every time I saw him in a Rangers shirt he looked comfortable in it. He also looked as if he knew how privileged he was to be wearing it and that made me warm to the guy.
“He was desperate to make the most of his opportunity and prepared to work his socks off for the team.
“I’m still not sure if he’s a natural striker or not but his desire and hunger really impressed me. The jury was out on a lot of Rangers players towards the end of the season but I wouldn’t say Kamberi was one of them.
“He’s obviously burned his bridges at Hibs so I see no reason why a deal can’t be done. If Rangers can pick him up for a couple of hundred grand then it would be a no-brainer as far as I can see because of the promise that he showed during his first couple of months in Gerrard’s squad.”

Back to Rangers?
Kamberi spent the second half of this past season on loan at Rangers, having joined from Hibernian in the January transfer window.
According to WhoScored, the 25-year-old scored one goal in six Scottish Premiership matches and played 137 minutes in the Europa League for the Gers.
While the impact that Kamberi made on the Ibrox club was not massive, he did give manager Gerrard options on the substitutes’ bench, and he would do the same again next season.
