Former Ibrox star Barry Ferguson has given his take on PLZ Soccer on the decision of Jake Hastie to leave Rangers on loan.

The former Rangers ace believes that Hastie going back to Motherwell on loan for next season is a sensible decision.

The winger actually joined the Gers from Scottish Premiership rivals Motherwell last summer and was immediately sent out on loan to Rotherham United.

Although the 21-year-old winger was recalled from his loan spell in January, he failed to make an impact on the Rangers first team thereafter.

Former Rangers star Ferguson believes that the Scotland Under-21 international going back to Motherwell will help the winger in his development and progress as a footballer.

Ferguson has also given his take on Jon McLaughlin, who recently joined Rangers on a free transfer after leaving Sunderland.

The 32-year-old Scotland international goalkeeper will be looking to compete with Allan McGregor for a spot in Steven Gerrard’s starting lineup.

McLaughlin is essentially a replacement for Wes Foderingham, who left Rangers when his contract ran out.

Ferguson said about Hastie on PLZ Soccer: “He has made a real wise decision going back to Motherwell. A wise move for the boy. I just hope when he gets back, the Motherwell fans accept him back, which I am sure they will.”

The Rangers legend said about McLaughlin on PLZ Soccer: “Good signing. He will push Greegsy, and it will make Greegsy stronger, I think. He has got a real struggle to get that number one jersey.”
