Scottish Premiership champions Celtic currently hold a one-point lead over their rivals Rangers after seven games.

Sheyi Ojo of Rangers FC acknowledges the crowd after the UEFA Europa League group G match between Rangers FC and Feyenoord at Ibrox Stadium on September 19, 2019 in Glasgow, United Kingdom.

Barry Ferguson has hit out at Sheyi Ojo after he claimed that Rangers are ‘the best team’ in Scotland, as the former midfielder admitted that he would have a word with the player if he was in the Ibrox dressing room.

Liverpool loanee Ojo made it clear that he ‘stands by’ his claims that Rangers are the best team in Scotland despite Celtic currently sitting top, as quoted by The Daily Express.

Not only are Neil Lennon’s side top of the table, but they did beat their rivals in the first Old Firm fixture of the new season 2-0, and also it shouldn’t be forgotten that the Bhoys have won eight-in-a-row.

Speaking to PLZ Soccer, Ferguson wasn’t too pleased with Ojo’s comments, as he stated that he would say things to him that he ‘cannot repeat’.

“It’s clear that confidence is high,” Ferguson told PLZ Soccer. “Keep it in-house. That would be my message. I’d probably say a few other things that I cannot repeat.

“I like confidence in players, but when players come out and start saying things, I don’t like it. I never enjoyed it myself when I was playing. We spoke about it quite a lot as a team if we are playing well… ‘listen, we’ll just go about our business’. I prefer when players do that.”

There’s nothing wrong with having a bit of confidence, but Ojo should have perhaps kept his comments within the four walls of the Ibrox dressing room.

Whilst Celtic have dominated Scottish football in recent years, there is now that realistic feeling that this is Rangers’ biggest chance of stopping their rivals from continuing their dominance.

Over the weekend, Lennon’s side dropped points at his former club Hibernian, whilst the Gers well and truly thrashed Aberdeen.
