According to The Daily Record, Rangers are interested in signing Skrtel in the summer transfer window.
It has been reported that Rangers manager Gerrard has held positive preliminary talks with the former Liverpool central defender over a move to Ibrox this summer on a free transfer.
It is reportedly Gerrard’s third attempt to sign Skrtel for Rangers.
Former Rangers midfielder Ferguson believes that Skrtel would be a good signing for the Gers in the summer transfer window.
Ferguson wrote about Skrtel to Rangers speculation: “And if he does manage to get his old mate Martin Skrtel in the door at the third attempt this summer then that would be another very shrewd piece of business.
“Even though the Slovakian is 34, I’ve always liked the look of him as a defender.
“Yes, he can be a bit erratic at times and he has thrown in some mistakes but you’re talking about a guy with more than 100 caps – a player who spent eight years at Liverpool. You don’t hang around at the top end of the game for that length of time unless you can play.
“He does suffer from the old red-mist syndrome from time to time too but I don’t mind that one little bit. You want a guy like him beside you in the trenches when the studs are flying and things are getting a bit fiery.”

Good signing for Rangers?
Skrtel is 34 years of age and is past his time, but the Slovakian central defender can certainly do a very good job at Rangers for the next year or two.
Rangers could do with an experienced defender at the heart of their backline, and Gerrard’s former Liverpool teammate Skrtel does fit the bill.
Skrtel made 27 appearances in the Super Lig for Fenerbahce this past season, scoring one goal in the process, according to WhoScored.
