Barry Ferguson has positive words for Celtic defender Bolingoli-Mbombo.
The former Rangers star has also suggested that Celtic manager Neil Lennon will want to sign a couple of more defenders in the summer transfer window.
Bolingoli-Mbombo has joined Celtic from Rapid Vienna in the summer transfer window for a fee reported by The Daily Record to be worth £3 million.
The 24-year-old left-back has struggled to play well for the Hoops so far and has not been very impressive.
Ferguson believes that Bolingoli-Mbombo needs time to settle at Celtic and adapt to Scottish football, but the former Rangers ace has suggested that Celtic manager Lennon still wants a couple of defenders this summer.
The former Scotland international midfielder has also said that results in the Old Firm derbies will decide whether it is Rangers or Celtic who win the Scottish Premiership title this season.
Ferguson said about Bolingoli-Mbombo on PLZ Soccer: “It is going to take the guy some time to settle. There’s no doubt about that.
“It’s a new league. A lot of players get shocked at the pace of Scottish football. The guy is going to take a bit of time to settle, but I do think that at the back of Lenny’s mind, he will still like to bring in a couple of defenders.”
Ferguson added about the title race: “I think it’s going to come down to Old Firm games, if I’m being honest. I think both teams look formidable and strong.”
Meanwhile, Celtic manager Lennon has suggested that he wants to keep midfielder Olivier Ntcham this season.
Lennon told The Scottish Sun about Ntcham: “Absolutely. I want him here, I don’t want him to go.”
