Barry Ferguson has warned Rangers that Ryan Kent won’t win them the league after he made a permanent switch to Ibrox from Liverpool.

On Monday evening, Rangers re-signed winger Kent for £7 million, as he signed a four-year deal with Steven Gerrard’s side [BBC Sport].

Last season, Kent impressed one and all at Ibrox, as the club were seemingly chasing him all summer and they will be hoping he can bring added quality to their forward line.

But speaking to PLZ Soccer’s official YouTube account (02/03/2019), Ferguson shared his thoughts on Kent as he believes that Gerrard’s side are still light in the striker department.

“I don’t think he’s going to come in and win them the league, let’s be honest,” Ferguson told PLZ Soccer. “I do think they are light up top.

“You have got two strikers. If one of them gets injured, Defoe isn’t getting any younger. For me, you need to have three or even four strikers at the club. You have got the Europa League coming up. Thursday and Sunday. It’s a big ask.

“There’s no doubt that he’s a good player. He was great last season for Rangers, but I still think they need to add a little bit more firepower.”

Kent’s arrival will provide the Gers with a much-needed boost and lift because they suffered a defeat to their Old Firm rivals on Sunday.

It was a poor performance from Gerrard’s side, as his attacking players, who went into the game in-form, failed to test Celtic’s fairly new defence.

Nonetheless, Kent was part of Liverpool’s pre-season plans over the summer, but he will need to boost his match sharpness over these coming weeks.
