Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers are reportedly set to appoint Barry Ferguson after meeting with Pedro Caixinha.

According to the Scottish Sun, Barry Ferguson is set to land a role as first-team coach at Glasgow Rangers.

Ferguson met with new Rangers boss Pedro Caixinha recently, and is apparently not set to be appointed at the Ibrox side’s new number three.

And it seems that Ferguson’s appointment could have a major impact for Kenny Miller, after his comments about the Rangers striker back in January 2017.

Miller’s future at Rangers is currently up in the air, as his current deal at Ibrox is due to expire at the end of the campaign.

However, it seems clear that Ferguson will be pushing for the 37-year-old to be offered new terms before his contract expires.

“For me the most crucial signing that Rangers must make their top priority is already there right under their nose,” Ferguson said, back in January, to the Daily Record.

“Kenny Miller has been the standout player for Mark Warburton’s side this season.

“I simply can’t believe they haven’t signed him up yet.”

If Ferguson does take on the number three role at Rangers, it remains to be seen just how much influence he will have on team matters.

But, unless he has had a drastic change of heart, Ferguson’s appointment can only be good news for Miller – who has already expressed a desire to stay with Rangers, if offered the chance.

Miller has played 37 times for the Light Blues so far this season, scoring nine goals and claiming five assists.
