Rangers will be hoping for a busy transfer window in the summer as Steven Gerrard looks to improve the Gers.

Blackpool manager Barry Ferguson looks on ahead of the Sky Bet Championship match between Reading and Blackpool at Madejski Stadium on January 28, 2014 in Reading, England,

Barry Ferguson has admitted that Rangers are looking at £1 million-like signings in the transfer market which they would later sell on for a profit before re-investing it back into the squad.

The former Scottish Premiership player used current star striker Alfredo Morelos as an example, who joined the Ibrox club from Helsinki in 2017 [BBC Sport].

Since then, he has taken his game to another level and is now Steven Gerrard’s best player and arguably the best player in the Scottish Premiership depending on what side of the fence you are sitting on.

Speaking to PLZ Soccer’s official YouTube account (24/04/2019), Ferguson spoke about the transfer market Rangers have to deal with.

It was stated to him that Rangers are looking at what saleable asset they have to boost season tickets, it’s a Morelos: “Exactly, you just took the words out of my mouth they got him for a £1 million and in the market what’s he worth? £8 million or touching £10 million,” Ferguson told PLZ Soccer.

“So, that’s the kind of market Rangers are looking at, guys that can come in, do well, sell on and make a good profit on and then put it back into the first team squad.”

Last summer, there was a big overhaul at Ibrox as Rangers aimed to build for the future and trying to close the gap on Old Firm rivals Celtic.

There was a big influx of talent that went out and came in through the doors, including players like Liverpool loanee Ryan Kent and former England striker Jermaine Defoe, who arrived at the club in January.

Whilst the Gers have shown improvement in Europe and the manner in which they have played this season has impressed supporters, they are still set to finish behind Celtic by a big margin – at this moment in time, it’s nine points.

There is no doubt that if Gerrard is to take the Glasgow club to another level once again then more investment would need to be made into the current playing squad.
