The Wolverhampton Wanderers defender chalked up his first goal of the season at the weekend.

Wolves ace Barry Douglas sat down for an exclusive interview with the Express & Star, and shared what he told his teammates about Conor Coady, before the centre-back scored his first goal of the season against Bolton Wanderers on Saturday.

The 25-year-old has been a revelation for the Black Country outfit this season, after being converted from a midfielder into a central defender by Nuno Espirito Santo.

Most of his fine work has been done inside his own half, however, after failing to score a single goal for Nuno’s side this term…until Saturday of course.

Douglas, who scored himself against the Trotters during his side’s 4-0 win at the weekend, told the Express & Star what he told his teammates about Coady’s failure to rack up a single goal prior to the Bolton clash:

“That just sums up the team spirit we have, letting him get on the scoresheet. I was saying to the boys that I think he was the only who hadn’t scored – from the boys who started (on Saturday).”

Wolves have just two league games remaining this season, and a pair of wins would take them onto 104 points – the highest tally in the Championship since Reading’s record breaking 2005/06 campaign.

And now Coady has broken his duck for the season, it would be no surprise to see him get his name on the scoresheet again between now and the end of the campaign.
