Leeds United will face Queens Park Rangers in the FA Cup this weekend.
The former Wolverhampton Wanderers left-back made the comments ahead of Leeds’s FA Cup third-round tie against Championship rivals Queens Park Rangers away from home at Loftus Road on Sunday afternoon.
Among the players who are on the sidelines for the West Yorkshire outfit at the moment are Liam Cooper, Patrick Bamford and Izzy Brown.
Douglas – who joined Leeds from Wolves in the summer transfer window for a fee reported by Sky Sports to be worth £3 million – has suggested that head coach Marcelo Bielsa may not make too many changes due to injury problems.
When asked if he expected changes for the tie against QPR, Douglas told The Yorkshire Evening Post: “I don’t know. I think the squad is quite bare as it is right now with a lot of injuries so that’s up to the manager.”
January signings needed
Leeds have been quite unlucky with injury problems so far this season, and Douglas’s aforementioned comments highlight the importance of the club making some signings in the January transfer window.
Successive defeats to Hull City and Nottingham Forest in the Championship have underlined the fact that Leeds need to boost their squad in the second half of the season.
With Leeds in a very good position to end up in the Championship top two, the Whited must try to bring in two or three players in the January transfer window in order to help the current squad.
