Wolverhampton Wanderers kicked off their campaign with a 1-0 win over Middlesbrough at Molineux.
Barry Douglas has told the Express and Star that he was generally pleased with his performance during his competitive debut for Wolves, but joked that one aspect of his game was terrible in the narrow opening day win.
There was surely no doubt that Molineux presented the most intriguing game from the opening round of fixtures in the Championship as Wolves hosted fellow big-spenders and promotion favourites Middlesbrough.

And it was Nuno Espirito Santo’s men who struck the first psychological blow as they claimed a 1-0 victory over Boro. And while debutant Douglas insisted that the result was the vital outcome from the game, he also suggested that he was generally pleased with his display.
“I was pleased with my performance but I’ll look back at it and see the things I can improve. One is my corners because they were terrible!” He told the Express and Star.
“But the most important thing was three points for the team.
“It was a great atmosphere, hopefully we can keep the stadium full. Obviously it helps the players to know you’ve got that backing behind you.”
The 27-year-old will be hoping that the promising display is a sign of things to come, both for him and the team during the coming campaign.
Douglas, like many of Wolves’ other signings during this window, had no previous experience of the Championship before the game, so the fact that they came away with three points in a game against a team that many are expecting to be right in the automatic promotion mix come the end of the campaign will give them a huge amount of confidence for the remaining 45 fixtures.
