Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Barry Bannan has played both in the Championship and in the Premier League.

Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Barry Bannan has told The Scottish Sun that the Championship is tougher than the Premier League.
Bannan is playing in the Championship at the moment with Wednesday, but he has experience of playing in the Premier League.
The 26-year-old Scotland international midfielder has stated that the second tier of English football is more demanding and less forgiving.

“It’s massively unfair to criticise the level of football in the Championship,” Bannan told The Scottish Sun. “It is one of the hardest leagues there is.
“I’ve played in both the Championship and the Premier League and the Championship is a lot more demanding as well as being a lot less forgiving than the Premier League.
“From the top down, there are probably eight top teams in the Premier League. But below that there isn’t really much difference between the rest in the Premier League and the Championship. It’s a tough league, a very tough league.”

There can be no doubt that the Premier League is a much better league with much more quality than the Championship.
However, it can be argued that the second tier of English football is more competitive and more rigorous.
A quick look at the Championship table shows just how competitive the Championship is.
Huddersfield Town are the surprise leaders, while Bristol City are in the playoff spots. Aston Villa, who were playing in the Premier League during the 2015-16 campaign, are just two points above the relegation zone in 19th.
Wednesday are ninth in the Championship table at the moment with 17 points from 11 matches, just three points behind Birmingham City, who are currently sixth in the standings and occupy the final playoff spot.
