Barry Bannan’s latest tweet has helped to allay fears the midfielder could be leaving Sheffield Wednesday, amid reports of interest from Birmingham City and Middlesbrough.

The Star reported last week that both the Blues and Boro are tracking Bannan, who is about to enter the final year of his contract at Hillsborough.

But ahead of Wednesday’s return to pre-season training next week, the Scotland international appears to have his focus on the Owls – issuing the following message after Thursday’s fixture release:

Bannan missed more than three months of last season, as an injury-ravaged Wednesday slipped to 15th in the Championship standings – 10 places behind Middlesbrough and four above Birmingham.

The Owls won six of the eight games in which the 28-year-old appeared after his March return.
