The Rangers manager, Steven Gerrard, has reunited with the goalkeeper at Ibrox.

Liverpool goalkeeper Andy Firth instructs his team during the Premier League International Cup match between Chelsea U21 and Liverpool U21 on September 11, 2015 in Aldershot, England.

Rangers have signed Andy Firth on an 18-month contract – a move which reunites the goalkeeper with Steven Gerrard.

Gerrard and Michael Beale, Rangers’ manager and first-team coach, respectively, worked with Firth at previous club, Liverpool.

But it is from fifth tier Barrow AFC that the 22-year-old arrives at Ibrox, just six months after his release by the Reds.

Firth, whose move has allowed Robby McCrorie to leave Rangers on loan, began the season as Barrow’s number one.

But he lost his place to Joel Dixon at the end of October, and failed to win it back before his exit.

So how are Barrow fans reacting to the news of Firth’s move?

This is what they’re saying on Twitter…

Ian Evatt, who is Firth’s former manager, also tweeted about the transfer, posting:

Firth is likely to act as cover for Allan McGregor and Wes Foderingham at Rangers this season, but could also face competition from McCrorie, Jak Alnwick and Aidan McAdams from the start of next season.

Is the former Barrow ‘keeper a good addition for Rangers?
