Mark Warburton’s Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers drew on Sunday.

Rangers midfielder Barrie McKay has singled out team-mate Josh Windass for praise, in an interview with The Glasgow Evening Times.

The Gers drew 1-1 at Ross County on Sunday afternoon in a setback which leaves Mark Warburton’s side 11 points behind Premiership leaders Celtic, who have a game in hand.

It is yet another disappointment for Rangers in a season which seems to be throwing up negatives on a weekly basis.

The Glasgow giants, who were knocked out of the League Cup semi-finals a couple of weeks ago, have since seen summer signing Niko Kranjcar ruled out for the whole campaign due to injury.

But one man who could step up in the Croat’s absence is Windass, who also joined Rangers in the summer.

All things considered, the former Accrington midfielder has perhaps been the pick of Rangers’ 12 summer signings as he continues to impress under Warburton.

The 22-year-old, who set up Clint Hill’s opener at Ross County, has looked a fine talent so far, and McKay is enthused with how he is adapting to life in Scotland.4

“Josh is a great player with a lot of pace and his passing is good,” he told The Glasgow Evening Times.

“He’s still getting used to the way we’re playing because sometimes he’ll come too deep or go to high but he was really good today and won a lot of fouls.”

Warburton’s side would have preferred to go into the two-week interval on the back of a victory but it would not be the case. Still, when they resume following the international break, the Gers will hope to get things back on track.
