Former Ibrox ace Barrie McKay is a fan of the Glasgow Rangers defender.
Barrie McKay has suggested to The Scottish Sun that his friend and former team-mate Joe Worrall has shown that he has the courage to succeed at Rangers.
Worrall joined Rangers on a season-long loan from Nottingham Forest last summer.
The 22-year-old defender played with Gers-daft McKay at the City Ground last term, after the Scottish winger was sold by the Ibrox giants in 2017.
Worrall enjoyed a fine game in the Old Firm win over Celtic last month, but it hasn’t always been plain sailing for the centre-back who has had his fair share of horror shows already in Glasgow.
But McKay has praised his mate for a refusal to go hiding, claiming the young stalwart will ‘always be there’ in that regard.
“I still speak with Joe. He is a confident lad and he has taken that into his game up in Scotland,” he told The Scottish Sun.
“At Forest he was always someone you could rely on, especially in the bigger games. He never shied away from anything and that is what you need at Rangers.
“You can’t hide and when it comes to fronting up, Joe will always be there.”
Consistency is key for Worrall during the second half of this season under Steven Gerrard.
The Rangers boss is clearly a fan and on some occasions it’s easy to understand why, but on other occasions it’s baffling and with Nikola Katic and Gareth McAuley to challenge him, Worrall has enough competition in Scotland to keep him on his toes.
