Barnsley would be wise to consider making a move for Scunthorpe United winger Josh Morris, as they seek to fill the void left by Ryan Kent.
Kent returned to Liverpool following a successful season-long loan spell at Oakwell. He played a key role in a Barnsley side that exceeded expectations last season, as they comfortably steered clear of relegation trouble and finished in a respectable 14th position.
The 20-year-old left winger played in 44 Championship games for the Tykes.

Despite not scoring highly in either the goals or assist charts, contributing three in each, Kent’s endeavour and pace in abundance made him a popular player amongst Barnsley supporters.
Barnsley boss Paul Heckingbottom will likely be searching for a suitable alternative in the left wing position, and he should look no further than Scunthorpe starlet Morris.
The 25-year-old enjoyed a successful first season at Glanford Park, his 19 goals and 16 assists helped guide the Iron to the semi-finals of the League One play-offs.
Josh Morris was top goalscorer for Scunthorpe in their 2016/17 campaign.
Morris came through the academy ranks at Blackburn Rovers. He made 20 first-team appearances at Ewood Park before being released after spending much of his time out on loan.
An unmemorable spell at Bradford City followed before making his mark for Scunthorpe. If Barnsley gave Morris the opportunity to play in England’s second tier again then it would be hard for him to let it pass him by.
Barnsley have already lost influential winger Marley Watkins to Championship rivals Norwich City. The arrival of Morris, who is full of confidence and keen to prove his worth in the Championship, would provide a much needed boost at Oakwell.
