Paul Heckingbottom’s Leeds United will face Barnsley in the Championship this weekend.

Barnsley fans have taken to social networkings site Twitter to give their reaction to Leeds United head coach Paul Heckingbottom’s latest comments about his dismissal from the Tykes.

Heckingbottom left his managerial job at Barnsley to take charge of Championship rivals Leeds in February 2018.

The Whites secured the services of the 40-year-old former Sheffield Wednesday and Norwich City defender by triggering a £500,000 release clause in his contract at the Tykes, according to The Yorkshire Evening Post.

Leeds will take on Barnsley at Elland Road in the Championship on Saturday afternoon, and ahead of the match, Heckingbottom has criticised his former club for their reaction to his exit.

“I didn’t speak about it too much then and I’m not going to speak about it too much now but it was bang out of order some of the things they said,” Heckingbottom told The Yorkshire Evening Post. “They know that but they just wanted to save face I suppose. It upset me.”

Barnsley fans have responded to Heckingbottom’s comments about the Reds on Twitter.

Barnsley are third from bottom in the Championship table at the moment with 38 points from 42 matches, just two points behind 21st-placed Birmingham City.

Meanwhile, Leeds are currently 14th in the league table with 54 points from 43 matches and are having yet another disappointing season in the Championship.
