Millwall are close to sealing a deal for Barnsley striker Tom Bradshaw.

HITC Sport reported yesterday the two clubs have agreed a loan deal with an obligation for Millwall to buy in January.

Barnsley were relegated to League One last season while Millwall came agonisingly close to making the Championship play-offs, remaining in touch until the final game of the season.

The 26-year-old has scored once in four games this season for Barnsley so far.

Last season he found the net 10 times in 43 games, with seven of those goals coming in the Championship.

Millwall had attempted to sign Bradshaw last month but were unable to agree a fee with Barnsley and that had seemed like the end of the matter.

The loan window has provided extra time for negotiations and the obligation to buy is essentially a workaround, which we are likely to see more of in the final days of the transfer window.

Barnsley fans are split on Bradshaw’s departure, with some writing off his chances of Millwall success, insisting he won’t be missed, or simply wondering why he chose Millwall instead.
