Queens Park Rangers, Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers are linked with the Barnsley midfielder.
Barnsley boss Paul Heckingbottom has told The Yorkshire Post that he expects reported Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers target Josh Scowen to join a fellow Championship club this summer.
The 24-year-old is out of contract at Oakwell at the end of this month after declining the opportunity to extend his deal.
The Sun claimed last month that Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers were interested in the talented midfielder, who scored 12 goals during his 108-match stay with the Tykes following a move from Wycome Wanderers in 2015.
A report from The Sun on Sunday last weekend suggested that Queens Park Rangers would also join the queue for the sought-after star.
And asked whether Scowen would stay in the Championship next season, Heckingbottom said: “I would have thought so, yes,” he told The Yorkshire Evening Post.

“Josh signed his contract here and saw it right to the end and that is great, it is what you want. We were great for Josh and Josh was great for us.”
With Scowen being available for free, he is understandably attracting plenty of interest from a host of big-name Championship sides.
It remains to be seen whether Aston Villa are still interested after seemingly being turned on to Glenn Whelan, though the Stoke City man is yet to sign with the Villans.
Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo has already signed three players this summer, with Ryan Bennett, Roderick Miranda and Phil Ofosu-Ayeh all arriving at Molineux.
