Fabrizio Romano has hailed Hoffenheim’s signing of RB Leipzig star Angelino as a ‘bargain’, with West Ham once again missing out on a reported transfer target.
The Italian journalist took to Twitter to confirm that the Spanish defender will sign for the Bundesliga side this week on loan, with Hoffenheim having a €20m (£17m) option to make the deal permanent next summer should Die Kraichgauer look to bring the former Manchester City defender to Sinsheim for good.
The deal comes following Leipzig’s capture of David Raum from Hoffenheim, with Angelino now heading in the other direction much to the dismay of West Ham, who were linked with both left-backs this summer as David Moyes looks set miss out on yet another transfer target.

With Angelino now set for Hoffenheim, left-back is another area where West Ham’s scouts will be scrambling to look for an alternative, with the Bundesliga star arguably perfect for what the Irons needed in the position for the new Premier League season.
Hailed as ‘world-class’ by Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann, Angelino could have taken West Ham’s left-back position for many years to come despite Aaron Cresswell’s consistency in the position, but the London side missing out on the Spaniard is once again another dark blemish on Moyes’ dealings this summer.

Angelino is arguably one of Europe’s most underrated fullbacks, and for West Ham, signing the 25-year-old would have hugely improved their defensive options for the new season, which is why losing out to Hoffenheim is such a blow for the Hammers this summer.
Indeed, Angelino has been a regular at a UEFA Champions League side for the past two years with Leipzig, and signing for Hoffenheim instead of West Ham is a huge missed opportunity for the east London side, who could have solidified their left-back position for many years to come.
