CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs has told TEAMtalk that Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool could make a move for Eintracht Frankfurt central defender Evan Ndicka in the summer transfer window.

Ndicka is out of contract at German club Frankfurt at the end of the season, and Jacobs has said that former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners Liverpool could try to sign him up on a free transfer.

Liverpool signed Joel Matip on a free transfer in the summer of 2016 when his contract with Schalke ran out.

The free agent signing has been superb for the Reds over the years and helped them win the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League under manager Jurgen Klopp.

And it seems that Liverpool could repeat that trick.

Liverpool tipped to move for Evan Ndicka

Jacobs said: “Like I said before finding budget for Gvardiol and Bellingham would be very, very difficult for Liverpool without Champions League football, but we know that Gvardiol is absolutely one name that they are looking at.

“And then the other one, Evan Ndicka, who is going to be an absolute bargain for somebody because as things stand at the moment, he’ll be available from Eintracht Frankfurt on a free transfer.

“I think Spurs are one to watch as well, as we know that they want a centre-back as well. But Ndicka is out of contract at the end of the season.

“Also left-footed and another one to keep a close eye on as far as Liverpool are concerned. Because he also has that modern center-back attribute and profile and has drawn a lot of attention because you know Liverpool will always look for value in the market. And as things stand Ndicka is exactly that.

“I also don’t even think that the wages would be particularly high either by Premier League standards. So you know, we have to wait and see on that one now. But I think that centre-back after midfield, or in conjunction with midfield, will be very important for Liverpool.”

Bargain signing

In our view, Evan Ndicka would be a bargain signing for Liverpool in the summer transfer window if they are able to sign him on a free.

The 23-year-old is one of the best young defenders around, and the Frenchman would make the Reds better.

The youngster is hugely experienced and is one of the better centre-backs in Germany.

And Ndicka also won the UEFA Europa League with Frankfurt last season.

Ndicka has made 21 appearances in the Bundesliga and seven in the UEFA Champions League so far this season.
