Danny Murphy has claimed that Tottenham’s summer capture of Yves Bissouma for £25 million from Brighton is a ‘bargain’, as he told talkSPORT.

The TV and Radio pundit added that ‘every part of his game is good’ and the defensive-minded midfielder also has ‘athleticism’ to his game.

Tottenham didn’t waste any time in adding Bissouma to their books this summer, with the Mali international having one-year left on his contract at the Amex Stadium and being their first capture of a pretty busy window.

He has now swapped a team that was competing in midtable for the past few seasons to one that is now preparing for a return to the Champions League.

Nonetheless, when Murphy was asked to share his thoughts on Tottenham’s signing of Bissouma, this is what he had to say.

“Yup, that’s a bargain,” said Murphy. “I just think with his potential and his athleticism. I think every part of his game is good.

“I think possibly his lack of goals maybe (why other teams didn’t come in for him at £25 million). Also, the other midfields. If we are talking about Liverpool, Chelsea and Man City, they aren’t struggling.

On why Man United didn’t go for him: “You would rather go Tottenham, wouldn’t you?!”

ATTACKING MIDFIELDER NEEDED

Following Antonio Conte’s arrival at Spurs, the club have signed two defensive-minded players in Bissouma and back in January, Rodrigo Bentancur.

Perhaps now the Champions League-bound need to add an attack-minded midfielder to their ranks because that player would compliment what Conte already has at his disposal.

Tanguy Ndombele is still on Tottenham’s books, but it’s pretty clear that he’s not part of the club’s long-term plans, whilst Giovani Lo Celso is another player that has struggled.

Either way, another forward-thinking player is needed and it would really top off an outstanding summer of business from the club if they were to get that type of player in.
